Anthony J. Teti of Toughkenamon
Anthony J. Teti, 91, of Toughkenamon, passed away on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Chester County Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth Surgeson Teti, who passed away in 2001, and with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born July 30, 1921 in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Laura DiLucio Teti. As a young child he moved to White Stone Hill, Toughkenamon, and lived there until he became ill in 2009. He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School and a 1938 graduate of Kennett High School. He was a graduate of Beacom College, now Goldey Beacom. Tony was a member of the Toughkenamon Tuffies baseball team. He played the guitar, accordion and harmonica with Chris Sanderson in the Pocopson Valley Boys Band. He was an avid CB operator, and served as a New Garden Township Supervisor. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in England and France. He worked in the Judge Advocate General Department. He was one of the Charter members of the Swayne-Campbell-Testa VFW Post No 5467 in Kennett Square. Tony was employed at Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Del., retiring in 1988 after 36 years of service. He was a mushroom grower in the early 1960’s. He was a member of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church in Avondale. He is survived by one son, Joseph Anthony Teti and his wife Billie of Toughkenamon; two daughters, Polly Teti and her partner Martie Gurney of Chadds Ford and Linda Pellegrini and her husband Donato of Hockessin, Del.;, five grandchildren, Michelle Teti, Michael Teti (Nicole), Jennifer McMillan (Josh), Mark Pellegrini (Gwen) and Paul Pellegrini (Carolyn); and three great- grandchildren, Jameson, Colin and Molly Evans. You are invited to visit with Tony’s family from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 3, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, (Phone: 610-444-4116). A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday morning, Feb. 4, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 8910 Gap Newport Pike (Route 41), Avondale. Burial will be private.
